Safety Network International e.V. publishes its second Automation Security Bulletin: Know your network!

The second Automation Security Bulletin "Know your network!" shows why something that's so simple at first glance is so important. As Ethernet is the base technology, communication paths may subsequently arise, which may be wide open to abuse from attackers because they are unknown and, in a worst case scenario, unprotected. Knowledge of all communication connections and types of communication is essential for targeted, cost-effective planning of measures designed to improve plant security. The aim is to guarantee outstanding plant availability and to ensure help is quickly available in the event of an error.

Certification for SafetyNET p: Safety Network International e.V. certifies the switches in Hirschmann's RSP and RSPS range

Certification for SafetyNET p: Safety Network International e.V. certifies the switches in Hirschmann's RSP and RSPS range

The certification of products and infrastructure components ensures that SafetyNET p communication operates reliably. So certification makes an important contribution towards the availability of each application. Switches in the RSP and RSPS range are managed switches and as such are suitable as central switches in an application with SafetyNET p. Management functions enable diagnostics and monitoring of the communication relationships. The additional redundancy functions HSR (ring topology) and PRP (parallel redundancy) have also been tested and certified with SafetyNET p

Certification for SafetyNET p: Safety Network International e.V. certifies the industrial (8+2G) multiport secure router EDR-810 from Moxa

The certification of products and infrastructure components ensures that SafetyNET p communication operates reliably. So certification makes an important contribution towards the availability of each application. The secure router from Moxa is used to separate networks or network segments, thus helping to improve the security level (industrial security) of the application, plant or machine. Ultimately the system becomes more robust, improving plant availability as a consequence. There are application areas in all fields of automation. Secure routers are used to protect individual machines, manufacturing cells or plants and also to separate whole sections of production – to protect the production network from problems in a company's office network, for example. The user benefits as a result: separation makes the system more robust and therefore guarantees higher plant availability.

Certification for SafetyNET p: Safety Network International e.V. certifies DSL Ethernet Extender IEX-402-SHDSL from Moxa

Certification for SafetyNET p: Safety Network International e.V. certifies DSL Ethernet Extender IEX-402-SHDSL from Moxa

The certification of products and infrastructure components ensures that SafetyNET p communication operates reliably. So certification makes an important contribution towards the availability of each application. With the DSL Ethernet Extender IEX-402-SHDSL from Moxa, an infrastructure device has been certified that utilises the special properties of DSL communication for SafetyNET p. So Ethernet communication is possible via a simple two-wire cable instead of an Ethernet cable.

Certification for SafetyNET p: Safety Network International e.V. certifies KUNBUS TAP 2100 Test Access Point for the real-time Ethernet system SafetyNET p

Certification for SafetyNET p: Safety Network International e.V. certifies KUNBUS TAP 2100 Test Access Point for the real-time Ethernet system SafetyNET p

Monitoring of SafetyNET p communication within the network is crucial for error-free operation. Particularly when there are untraceable interruptions to operation that can concern communication, information is needed for visualisation purposes. There may be errors on the line or a faulty implementation. This is the true during the commissioning phase, when troubleshooting during operation and also during device development (implementation). If the correct monitoring functions are in place, the user knows what is happening on the bus.

Certified EWF Series from Hokuyo Automatic Co., Ltd

In many areas there is a requirement to use SafetyNET p in a mobile environment. In this case it's necessary to transmit safety-related and automation data to a mobile machine part via wireless communication. So the electrical connection is transferred to an optical path. This is where the EWF Series from Hokuyo can be used: communication is wireless via a modular, infrared light beam.
